The article, Learning Science: A Deweyan perspective touched on many different things, but mainly this idea of the "Deweyan" way of learning. Letting our students explore the curriculum, essentially have a say in how they learn.
The difference between and ordinary learning experience and a Deweyan is that students get the opportunity to take part in their own learning experience. Meaning there will probably be less of the rigid schedules, more opportunities to give students their own time to work, placing students in groups to work and collaborate based on similar interests. Emerging technology, in my opinion, could take this idea of Deweyan learning to another level. It would present a much larger ability to let our students explore and become a part of their own learning. Even just with google docs, the ability to collaborate outside of the classroom. Prezi is another example, it is a more creative way for students to create presentation, as opposed to power points, there is little room to be creative. Also, with Prezi students can work on their projects anytime and anywhere as it is not a software that would need to be purchased.
Emerging technology will offer so much to our students in the coming years, as long as were aware of the benefits and address concerns right out of the gate so that our students benefit from the technology, it could create so many open doors for our students.
